What other Canadian communities are there? Your Grade 2 child will apply their understanding of community to an Inuit, an Acadian and a prairie community. They will come to appreciate how these communities are shaped by a variety of factors, such as the past, where they are located, the groups to which they belong and the exchange of goods and services. We have a lot of books for this grade, but there are areas I would still like to develop. I'd found little at their level on Acadian communities especially. If you, reader, know of any you could recommend, please leave your suggestions in the comments. The following books are available in the SHS Library. Click on the covers for descriptions & reviews. AcadianPrairieInuitThe Grade 2 class will do an author study on Inuit author Michael Kusugak in library class. They especially love the little rhyme in Hide and Sneak and it leads perfectly into stories and lore about inuksuit. |
